I served my mandatory military service at the Finnish Defence Forces' Defence Command, working as a conscript graphic designer for Ruotuväki magazine. My role was wide-ranging, including creating illustrations and graphics for the magazine, producing social media content both as images and short videos, and some work on the magazine's layout. At Ruotuväki, I also had the chance to do a lot of photography!
The most significant project of my military service, however, was creating graphics for a 12-week fitness campaign by the President of the Republic of Finland and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, Alexander Stubb. More on that below!
The graphics for the President's fitness campaign
Thumbnail options I created for the short videos—of which the latter was chosen for a more neutral look—while the sportier first option also received positive feedback from the Office of the President and was used on Ruotuväki's social media channels. The chosen option served as the cover image for all 12 videos, slightly adapted for each one.
The weekly schedule I created, which was published for 12 weeks on the Finnish Defence Forces' social media channels and, during the first week, was also shared on the President's social media channels.

Ruotuväki's Military service board game
I designed an entire board game from start to finish, including the graphics and the game concept, for July's magazine. The project was slightly limited by space, as the game rules needed to fit on the same spread as the game itself. Nevertheless, the final result became a functional and fun experience that conscripts can enjoy playing, for example, in the evenings at their barracks.
